What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work. Others are used for analytics or advertising and record what you do across pages or sites.

Cookies on this website

None for visitors. Reading the pages, using the map and sending a quote request set no cookies at all. We don’t use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or social media trackers, and our fonts load from this website rather than from Google.

The only cookies come from WordPress, the software the site runs on, and only for the people who manage the site when they sign in to its admin area:

Cookie	What it does	How long
`wordpress_test_cookie`	Checks the browser accepts cookies, on the sign-in page	Until the browser closes
`wordpress_sec_…` `wordpress_logged_in_…`	Keep a site manager signed in	Until the browser closes, or 14 days with “Remember me”
`wp-settings-…`	Remember how a site manager laid out the admin screens	1 year

These are strictly necessary for signing in, and they are never set for anyone just visiting, so they don’t need consent.

Other services the site uses

Map tiles. The coverage map loads its map images from CARTO (basemaps.cartocdn.com). Like any server sending a file, CARTO receives your IP address and browser details to deliver it. It sets no cookies.

Phone and email links. Tapping our number or email address opens your own phone or email app. The website records nothing.

If this changes

If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, the site will ask your permission first, and nothing will be set until you accept. We’ll list each one on this page before it goes live.

Managing cookies

Every browser lets you see, delete and block cookies from its settings. The Information Commissioner’s Office explains how at ico.org.uk.
